Here at Chilled Dawgz Dog Day Care Glasgow we offer a fun, safe, fully licensed environment for your dog to enjoy their day in but – why choose dog day care.
Our lifestyles have changed over the last few decades and we are busier than we have ever been with work, family and many other commitments. Gone are the days when you would open your back door and let the dog out for the day. Our transport system from cars and buses to trains and trams are so much busier than before. It’s just now safe to let our beloved dogs out on their own anymore.
We have grown to more completely understand our dog’s needs with vast amounts of studies now being done into dog psychology. As owners we are now very aware of the mental and physical impacts that leaving our dog alone for long periods of time can cause. However we have the completely other end of the spectrum when a dog spends most of its time with its owner and little time socialising with other dogs or people. This leads to separation anxiety and when you do have to leave your beloved dog alone – and realistically we cannot spend all day everyday with our pet we must deal with the challenges of everyday life – your dog will become very distraught often vocalising and being destructive within the home.
This is when the world of dog day care can really help with these problems. Of course you can always pay for a dog walker to walk your dog for an hour a day but – your dog will still be spending most of his time at home alone. For not a lot more cost you can have your dog cared for all day while you are out.
Unfortunately in Scotland (unlike England) dog care isn’t licensed so you cannot be guaranteed the standards of care your dog will receive. There are a few licensed dog day care facilities in Glasgow and Chilled Dawgz Dog Day Care Glasgow is one of these. This means you can be completely assured that the highest safety standards are in place for your beloved pet. We have had to go through rigorous checks from both Glasgow District Council and Vet professionals making sure we have every aspect of your dog’s stay in day care covered. Being licensed your dog’s security and safety is paramount and we have numerous safety procedures in place.
In day care your dog receives the stimulation needed to ensure they grow to be happy, confident dogs. As we are licensed for small to medium breeds you are assured that your dog won’t be nervous around big breeds as we simply don’t have any. Mixing with other dogs provides them with fun and stimulation but also to a dog that doesn’t meet other dogs regularly it gives them the opportunity to learn what it is like to play with their own kind and learn the doggy code of conduct.
As dogs can be in day care for up to 11 hours it is paramount that your pup does not get overtired as this will give you a very tired, distressed or upset dog to take home. We have a rest period in the middle of the day where all dogs must sleep and rest. Puppy’s and older dogs must have more chance to rest and we have various areas in the centre where the pups and the older ones can have some alone time.
Dog day care is fantastic for most dogs but- like humans there are some dogs that just will not do well in day care – not because there is anything wrong with your dog it’s just that all dogs are different and like us some just don’t like being around lots of dogs. This is the reason why we will perform an assessment before your dog is accepted in to day care to ensure that they will be completely happy in a day care environment.
To run a licensed doggy day care centre you have to have an absolute love of dogs – as dogs are our lives quite literally – you are guaranteed that your dogs will be loved and cared for exactly as you would at home. Just think of that little happy tired face waiting to greet you when you come to pick them up. Instead of going home to a stressed out dog you will be taking home a happy, content dog that has had all the physical and mental stimulation they need.
